Since 2014, Veronica has been dedicated to dance education across studio, school, and community settings. As Dance Department Director at Noel Grisham Middle School, an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, she develops curriculum, directs student performances, and produces the department's annual spring dance productions.

Teaching philosophy

A strong educational perspective and school system is crucial for students to gradually develop autonomy within society. My philosophy of education focuses on developing effective teaching approaches and strategies towards whole child education that engages students to participate in class and encourage learning and conversation through and about dance in general. An important part of my teaching is how knowledge can be powerful within a culturally responsive education. The more information we acquire and understanding developed connected to various cultural contexts, the wiser and more empowered we are to become as future leaders.   My goal is to foster dance literate students through a performing, creating, connecting to history and culture, and responding through critical thinking and inquiry-based learning. In addition, as a dance educator I seek to instill in my students a sense of confidence, personal connection, safety within the community, and self-efficacy, for students to believe that they are capable of conquering any tasks that will serve them on their future paths whether that is to pursue professions in the fine arts or other careers.
